About the Author

David Evans grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, loving to play baseball and playing on teams into his first year of college. The only sports souvenir David received from his father was a baseball autographed by Walter Johnson, whom his father greatly respected. Walter Johnson is a main character in this story.

A graduate of Arizona State University in Economics, David earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University. After careers in business and government, he taught young men at a juvenile correctional institution for sixteen years before his retirement in 2004. Married in 1968, David and his wife Joan live in Peoria, Arizona. Their two daughters and six grandchildren live in nearby Phoenix.
